Republican  Party
Organization
Political parties are in the process of reorganizing  for the 2014 election season. In 2014 all state wide offices (Governor, Lieutenant Governor, etc.) will stand for election along with the SC House, The US House, both SC US Senators, Lancaster County's SC Senator Greg Gregory, three Lancaster County Council members and four Lancaster School Board members.
The Republican Party is organized first at the precinct level. Precincts are organized into Counties, Counties into States and States into the national Republucan Party organization.
The Van Wyck Precinct consists of the 993 voters registered to vote at the Van Wyck Community Center. Since South Carolina does not register voters by political party any of these 993 voters is eligible to join the Van Wyck Precinct Republican Party and to hold office in that organization, among which is the office of Delegate to the Lancaster County Republican Convention. The Van Wyck Precinct is entitled to seven Delegates to the Lancaster County Republican Convention.
The Lancaster County Republican Convention also has officers, among which is the office of Delegate to the South Carolina State Republican Convention. The Lancaster County Republican Convention is entitled to fifteen delegates to the South Carolina State Republican Convention.
The South Carolina State Republican Convention also has officers, one of which is Delegate to the National Republican Convention. The South Carolina Republican Party is entitled to one delegate to the National Republican Convention. That position is currently held by Glenn McCall, Chair of the York County Republican Party.
Anyone desiring to have a voice in the Republican Party must start by joining his or her local precinct organization.

Easter Egg Hunt
The Van Wyck Women sponsored an Easter Egg Hunt on Palm Sunday, 24 March 2013 at the Community Center.  Attendance was light because the weather was cold and rainy, but those that came had a good time. Marni, Savannah and MaryRose were running a guessing game for little ones and braiding hair for those who needed it.
Republican Party
Van Wyck Precinct

J.R. Wilt is President of the Van Wyck Precinct Republican Party and as such has the privilege and responsibility to welcome into the Precinct organization those who wish to join. There are no dues or formal responsibilities and no precinct level meetings are planned. We are a vehicle  to get involved in the County level Republican Party. There are positions left as Delegate to the Lancaster County Republican Convention if anyone is interested. The Lancaster County Republican Convention will be held on 20 April 2013.
The Republican Party lot the Presidential election last November, but won big in South Carolina. All state wide offices, large majorities in both houses of the Legislature and all members of the Congressional delegation are Republicans, along with a majority on the Lancaster County Council and a majority of county wide offices.  This is an interesting and dynamic time to get involved as the Republican Party begins to recreate itself. Send me email if interested.

Feeding the Hungry
Donations to Lancaster County food programs have fallen off recently. The recession increases the number of people facing hunger and the need for food.  The Van Wyck Press is happy to transport food to the agencies serving the needy in Lancaster.  If you have food that you would like to donate and would like us to transport it for you, let me know.
